I love food, and I have the sneaking suspicion that food loves me back.

I’m a not-so-newlywed, mostly sane person who’s moved hither and yon about the countryside for the last few years. Since 2008 we’ve lived in four states and have found something to love (and hate) in each and every one of them. Meanwhile I’ve been working toward a degree in communication and journalism, graduation due the end of 2011. This website is an outlet for combining my love of food and writing.

I’m addicted to food blogs, micro-fleece blankets, and vodka margaritas (tequila and I had a falling out a few years ago). I have an affinity for cupcakes, all things porky and smoky, and am willing to try anything and everything food related at least once – as long as it was produced responsibly and sustainably. I aspire to be a vegan marathon runner – but just between you and me, that ain’t never gonna happen. In the meantime I content myself with good food, good wine, and good family.

Originally from the West Coast (or, “Best Coast,” if you will), I’ve now been (probably permanently) transplanted to the East Coast. I am forever in awe of the many differences among the natives of each coast and have great fun exploring them on this site. Additionally, I most often attempt to keep my meals as nutritious and healthful as is possible without sacrificing too much taste. I much prefer to eat great foods in moderation rather than mediocre foods in large amounts.

The main a bird in the kitchen page is dedicated solely to recipes, reviews, and all things pertaining to food. If it's food related, that's where you'll find it. The blog roll page located at the upper right of the page has several blogs I enjoy reading regularly and recommend as well as a few other websites that I support or enjoy.

If you are interested in contacting me directly please be sure to utilize the contact tab located at the top of the page. I will attempt to respond as quickly as possible to all questions and comments directed to me. Thank you for visiting my little corner of this great big beautiful thing we call the Internet. I appreciate your interest and hope to see you around again soon.
